Finally got around to seeing this show and It's just thinly disguised feminist propaganda with the veneer of chilling with the boys in an ad agency to hook men into watching.

Advertising at this period of time was actually very fascinating and did a lot to shape society (to it's detriment).
My feeling that actual propaganda and psychology techniques weren't going to be explored was confirmed when in the first episode he's given a psychological analysis of people's desire pursue things that are dangerous in a marketing push for smoking and he literally throws it in the trash.

Ad men wouldn't think this way and were using mass psychology techniques observed by freud to shape the wants of the population not rejecting them and throwing them in the trash and acting as though they are above them morally.
