Early Family Guy feels like a different show

It is. That's what happens when you have 20+ seasons and 90% of the writers change out.
Seth hasn't even written for it in like 15 years.

Oh fuck off. Seth is still an ENORMOUS influence. Not just his voice, but his overall trustworthiness to producers are the reasons the show still runs.

The star wars parody spoof episodes were the last genuinely great family guy episodes. It literally all went to shit afterwards.

Him voicing and being attached as a producer isn't the same as him writing. He's literally not in the writers room anymore, he's said it several times.

Jesus Christ that was embarrassing. I don't watch Family Guy for le topical political humor.
The one before that was boring too (poop jokes).

Seth used to put in the effort. You can see it in pre-revival Family Guy his earlier projects.

He just got lazy and indulgent. It turns out that condistently writing funny shit is actually really, really hard. Seth is just having fun with it.

Expecting anyone to continue putting in effort for a show that will seemingly never end is unreasonable imo. He clearly puts effort into the newer projects he starts, but America has kind of grown sick of his style kf humor after being bombarded with it for over 20 years so they don't hit as well as they otherwise would.
Ironically Family Guy's success makes it hard for people to enjoy his other shit, like The Orville or Million Ways to Die In the West.

Was Mr. Weed supposed to resemble Don Turtelli from the TMNT cartoon?

Like Family Guy but Republican
And Family Guy but black

Orville was alright tho. He clearly had a vision for that one.

90 minutes of some of the laziest, cringiest improv you will ever witness in a feature film. Like 2016 Ghostbusters levels.

Those weren't projects he wanted to start, they were projects that Fox made him start and so he put zero effort into them. Apparently they tried to make him do it a 3rd time with a Flinstones reboot but he refused.
Also the last 2 seasons of the Cleveland Show were actually decent.

he wanted to end the show after season 8, you dumbass. Fox thought he was retarded for ditching his cash cow and threw fuck you money at him to at least do the voices. seth went on to make and produce ted, which made him truly wealthy and showed fox he was right to move on. Fox parades the puppet of family guy around, but it's practically got nothing to do with the creator, who wisely wanted it to end at a good point

I feel like it went to shit after the cancellation, but that might just be rose tented glasses since I watched the early episodes the most on adult swim.

ted 2 made $216m, which was far less than ted one, but still a massive success. not including the fucktons of merchandise from all the ted's they sold, the two films made $736m. I also think there's a prequel show. seth might actually be a billionaire now or soon because of a talking teddy bear with a boston accent

It was just Simpsons but more crude. To be clear, that's not a bad thing, but it's something that was easy to take for granted. We didn't know how bad animated sitcoms would get.

this sums it up for me. I had severe family guy fatigue when it first went mainstream, and you couldn't escape it. eventually south park summed up why i disliked it perfectly, but the proceding decade of total fucking slop made me warm up to it again. as long as it's before season 8, I'll watch it. even south park fell off a cliff
