Superman is a relic of a by gone era. He does not work anymore and people can't understand him as a character. In fact they make fun of him for being such a "boy scout". People prefer the evil versions of him(Homelander/Injustice) because they are more "realistic" for someone of Superman's power level. Superman/Clark can't just be a good person, nay nay. He must have trauma. He can't stand for Truth, Justice, and the American Way because people can't even agree that helping someone in need is a good thing or not. He can't just save people and stop the bad guys, no he needs to make a political statement.

As for Superman being political, he is no more or less political than any other comic post WW2. Besides Xmen of course who've been neck deep in political topics longer than most of the people on the board have been alive.
Superman would 100% be for immigrants, who followed the law. He would not be down with the riots and random acts of violence. Which brings me back to people wanting an "evil" Superman. Some people want Injustice Superman, others want Red Son.
I'm even one of them, I think Superboy Prime was 100% right about the state of Super heroes 20 years ago and is even more right today.
