I thought the first few seasons were really good. I wouldn't listen to those that say it sucked since it went on to become one of the biggest shows on television with more spinoffs than you can count.
I watched it up until Negan made his debut and killed off most of the good characters. After Negan and then Rick leaving it went to shit in my opinion.

Worst character was the black sword woman. Shittiest actor in the series.

season 2 is already a pretty slow slog, and the goes steeply downhill at the end of season 2 where they kill half the cast (interesting actors and characters that had good storylines but just get cut short) and end with a samurai black chick chained to two armless jawless zombies, at which point it becomes a ridiculous comic book show and loses any respect and interest
