I don't get it, why does no one outside of the USA care about Superman?

That is a bit optimistic, IMO. One of the problems Superman has is audience apathy. It's doing better in the US than outside the US, but people aren't hyped for this movie.

Keep in mind DvsW was rated R, which would significantly impact its box office. By your nostalgia cope, this should also make a billion since it has a bunch of callbacks to Superman media fans would like.

I'm a box office autist and the sales for this movie actually did explode today for Thursday previews. So it'll probably do pretty well, especially with walk-ups which is uncommon for capeshit but clearly it was a smart bet to market the movie so heavily towards families with the dog and stuff. The reviews also obviously helped it a lot. Seems very similar to GOTG3 in that it was underperforming on pre-sales until reviews came in and it got a huge bump.

Only a fool would think Sinners was going to flop. It had everything black people love. Black music and killing white people.Sinners was able to tap into that racial demographic because the audience was like 85% black.Superman doesn't have that luxury. Don't count on white people to show up up for white heroes.

Had something similar with one of my buddies. He doesn’t like James Gunn or his movies and he told me he wasn’t interested in seeing it in theaters, but after the reviews came out he read a lot of them and said it seemed like it what he expected and talked about his grievance with the movie. Yet he said he’s now going to watch it in theaters. I don’t really get why, but whatever. I know he wouldn’t have been willing to check it out if the reviews came back overwhelmingly bad though. Personally I’m not going to see it until it comes out on a torrent.

Do you hear yourself? DvW had a great audience response and good word of mouth, same thing so far with this movie. I should add that the reviews for DvW weren’t as good as Superman, so that’s an added bonus plus the PG-13 thing.
There’s no metric where Superman bombs, anon.

Superman is a bigger household name than the suicide squad and guardians of the galaxy. Guardians of the galaxy vol. 3 opening weekend did around 100 million domestic and ended with 800+ million globally. Superman is projected to earn close to 200 million domestic (based on newer projections) and will have much more stronger legs. 1 billion is easily achievable here.

These retroactive copes are always so funny. How do you type this shit and not think you’re just making shit up? Sinners was guaranteed to not flop? Really? Just like The Woman King? That movie doing well blew away expectations. If you really thought it was a guaranteed hit then you’re really stupid.

Why won't people see a Superman movie extolling virtues that the US does not actually live by?

It's a total mystery.

British movie critics have pretty much panned SuperGunnMan.

Retroactive cope will always be true of this movie. This movie could break 2 billion (obviously it won't) and people on this board would claim it was WB buying all the tickets or that it was always going to do that just based off the Superman brand. I still remember the day before reviews came out people were claiming it would be rotten on RT because of that one negative one that leaked, and now that it's at around 85% the cope is all the critics were bought or something. It will never end.

Keep telling yourself that shill. Plus Guardians had the MCU machine behind it. Superman had nothing like that except being the first of a new DC universe. Superman will either flop or underperform. Its not makkng a billion. If Batman couldn't make a billion that should tell you Superman can't either.

>Guardians had the MCU machine behind it
By the time GotG 3 came out, the “machine” was already breaking down. They already had flops by then. Antman 3 had just come out in case you don’t remember. The reason Guardians performed well was because critics and audiences alike loved it, and it had great legs. This will most likely be the case for Superman.
>If Batman couldn't make a billion
Bad reception and word of mouth. The fact it made as much money as it did was entirely on the Batman name.
