Heaven is cool though. No pain, no fear, no sickness. I like to think it's like a new stage of existence. The things we learn in life we'll get to use in a much greater and more important way. I'm confident God's got so amazing work for us to fulfill once we get there.

Only the truly evil go there. It would seem that in Heaven you can understand things much more completely. If you felt love or sympathy for an evil person, you'd probably understand that they're being punished and that it's just. But time and space as we know them would be different, and God is very forgiving.

You're correct. But I wonder about what it means to be a bride for God or part of the body of God. It all seems to be a metaphor for completeness in some way. But if I was created human, I imagine some of what makes me who I am will endure. Otherwise, what was the point of my existing? God wants us to love him. But not blindly. So if I'm alive forever with the Creator, the Creator must have a purpose for me to serve in the next life perfectly suited to who I am.

We don't know. We either accept what we believe is true. Or dismiss it for having no evidence to support it. You cannot apply human reason to the actions of forces we cannot quantify. Science and faith are seldom, if ever, compatible. You believe what you believe if you choose to. On faith alone. You trust the science you understand because it's rational and demonstrable.>>212550377

Look up Emmanuel Swedenborg. He lays out a conception of both heaven and hell that sounds believable. Basically Heaven is where people go who find joy in helping others, and everyone just helps and provides for everyone else, so it's great. Hell is where people who find joy in taking from others for their own gain go, so everyone is just taking from each other all the time, so it sucks. But you get to choose for yourself, so everyone is happy, even the ones in hell.

Well "happy" is a bit of a vague term. A drug addict might describe themselves as happy even if deep down they're suffering. But I'm not really the guy you want to argue with if you're trying to evaluate those claims, I'm too ignorant. Swedenborg wrote volumes and he thought the bible was truly the word of God and that reading it and learning from it was extremely important, so much so that he learned Hebrew and Greek to study it better.

I do know that with the lake of fire imagery, he suggested that "fire" when talked about in the bible refers to "love". Heaven is described as being firey as well. There's heavenly fire and hellish fire, but both are fire. Swedenborg says this is two different loves. It's not a material fire like we have in the material world.

I too profess my ignorance. But I do recall your description of how the word 'fire' is used in translation. God is a 'consuming fire' as in a crucible inside a furnace. It consumes impurity. It stands to reason that the hell fire would indeed be a fire of love or lust. A fire that burns and consumes. Thanks for the food for thought.
