I am a capeshit goyslop enthusiast and actual nerd. When a new capeshit comes out, my normie friends and families ask how it was. When iron man came out and I saw it opening night, they asked, and I told them it was a legitimately excellent film that felt like an improvisational action comedy. So they’d ask to see it with me so I could explain who this character was. I saw iron man five times in theatres that summer because of my normie friends and family. Same with the dark knight, saw it four times that summer, because my normies asked me how it was, and I said it was the single greatest film I’d ever seen. When they asked how the green lantern was, I told them it was WB studio house style superhero fare with van wilder, and they didn’t ask to see it with me. When they asked how guardians of the galaxy was, I said it was an auteur driven star wars with the best soundtrack I’d heard in a major studio production, so they’d ask to see it with me, and I saw it three times that summer. When they asked how suicide squad was, I said it was like driving with a schizophrenic idiot who kept changing the radio station every ten seconds, and I never saw it again.
When people asked how man of steel was, I said it was one of my favourite movies, as I always saw clark as a science fictional alien god, but it genuinely hurt my soul, and that wound caused some introspection on my values. No one asked to see it with me.
I have a 1pm showing in imax tomorrow for the supergunn. I wonder what I’ll say when the normies ask how it was.
