What shortsighted, egotistical moron. Can't appreciate all the honour and duty she's given just because of penis envy.

You know, I don't really care too much about them leaving out Erkenbrand or Elfhelm even though they're both total badasses, but how they handled the whole thing with helm's deep just doesn't make any goddamn sense logistically and it wouldn't have fucked with the runtime at all to establish the actual geography and movements from the book.

This was back when girlboss shit was at least a stupid sideplot so nobody cared.
It hadn't forced itself into every industry yet, or started to revolve the main plot in movies around it.

She's like 16 in the books. That's why she's so retarded and it's also why they tolerate her behavior.

The scene where he finds her on the battle field is heartbreaking. Hackson removed it of course.

Was she wounded? I vaguely remember this from the DC.

She was probably the worst thing about the movies. The character in the book is much more sympathetic. I'm not sure though, Gimli being transmogrified into a gruff comic relief character was pretty horrendous as well. Overall, the movies were as good as they could have been and we were lucky they were made in the late 90s, early 00s versus the late 00s and early 10s. They could have been much, much worse.

Gotta have that forced artificial tension of the women and children even though they weren't there and were all sent south to dunharrow. Or that the whole gambit was a plan to go and reinforce the garrison already there while waging war on Isengard instead of just being a run and hide move.

It's in the extended edition. Karl Urban nails it beautifully.

Oh so that's why they have a throwaway line about sending women to the caves/having them go to the secret escape tunnel. Even though seemingly everyone defending Helm's Deep has been massacred and its only Theoden, his squire, and the main cast who are alive in the throne room as the Uruk-hai are banging on the doors. Gimli also somehow manages to just run to the top of the hill to blow the horn.

yeah peter jackson fucked up the characterization of multiple great characters from the books turning them into impulsive, unreliable, or evil people.
it was worse with boromir.
