the first six seasons are great imo, season 7 has the first bad episode with "Frank's Brother", but even after that most episodes are still good until like season 10.

I don't care how awful they are now, seasons 1-4 + 5 is probably the best sitcom I've ever watched

1-6 is normal people with a TV show(minus devito) and 7- The Rest is rich people with a tv show. Same thing happened when Letterman went from NBC to CBS. Once you get all that money you forget whatโ€™s funny. Rich people problems doesnโ€™t really produce great content. There are some good episode post 7. Some really good ones in fact, but it never returns to form. I donโ€™t blame them, Iโ€™d cash out too.

Crazy what they managed to do with zero budget for a few years and when they got more money the show's quality took a hit

S1 was the show they actually wanted to make
Everything after is what Fox forced them to make

I started to watch Sirens with Glenn Howerton. He must be picking up roles after It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

They also stopped drinking while writing and filming. Probably had something to do with it as well.

Yes it was interesting and more involved than most biographical movies in nature.

Sorry I didn't realize It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been renewed for a 18th season making it the longest-running live-action comedy series in American television history in terms of seasons

ratings grab via crossover
networks do it all the time when a show's numbers drop
FOX tried it with New Girl and Brooklyn 99 when New Girl ratings were sinking and Brooklyn 99 was at an all time high. Horrible episodes.

It must have been horrible. What do those two shows even have in common.

season 7 is easily my favorite. franks brother is bad, yes, but the rest of the episodes are gold
macs fat arc, the doctor visit with dennis, the baby funeral, Cricket getting caught in the basement, the high school reunion.. so much memorable kino packed into a season

Checked. I liked Frank's Brother even though it has a very different feel than the rest of the show. Lance Reddick is the man.

meh i feel like 7 is when the show started to get dumbed down and simplified for masses, not bad yet but definitely going in wrong direction
