This one was okay. He's just missing the emotional beats. The movie goes too fast, it's just 1, 2 ,3 punch every scene. If Wes spaced out these scenes with some quiet moments it would have been great. I don't think he puts his heart into his movies anymore, i think he's just doing what people expect of him just like Tim Burton now.

phoenician scheme was going on the idea that being a good person was genetic. zsa-zsa's was ruthless but ultimately altruistic. he knew well the mothers of his sons so that's why they weren't heirs. he knew his daughter's mother well and that's why he wanted her to be an heir, under a trial basis. liesl was pious but the catholics reject her attempts to say her vows because they want the korda fortune supporting them, not just another nun. said mother superior is then angry at liesl later because it looks like liesl is choosing to keep said wealth, rather than funnel it to the church.

long and short, its not a positive portrayal of catholics. its the idea that being a catholic, billionaire, spy, whatever, doesn't make a person good or bad.
