The narrative argument of the movie is pretty simple to follow. Lex is motivated by natal determinism- he believes that he’s the smartest man in the world and therefore it’s his birthright to lead so he takes offense to Superman’s existence contradicting that and stealing his glory. Superman’s living proof that you aren’t what your parents decided you would be, you get to reinvent yourself and decide who you are. That’s what makes him punk rock.

One thing the movie did very well qas showing the most compassionate superman. It shows he cares for all life and has good morals.
However, i did not like how they decided to skip the origin story (good call, about time) but for the internal conflict the solution was going back to the implied origin story
