I rewatched the theatrical and I was flabbergasted at all the incredibly important plot stuff that they cut. In theatrical it's not even clear why they're holding hearings for Superman.

i thought it was mid when it came out. after rewatching it a month ago, it grew on me. reflecting, i think i was unconsciously comparing it to the MCU-slop i had been suckling the teet of, so rated it as a capeslop film (poorly). now that i'm more mature and have capeshit fatigue, when watching it i realize it was never meant to be capeslop, but an excuse to make a movie with batman and supes as characters. would recommend giving it a shot. if you're an MCU fanboy, you'll hate it. if you have superslop fatigue, you'll love it.

Its not bad as people say. Its a letdown and a capeslop, sure, but its a good watch.
Anons here hate Snyder for his screenplays, but when it comes to stylized, and edgy shitbrown aesthetics, he is a true master of this craft. You will enjoy the movie's visuals and fights.
For me, BvS is one of the best 7/10 capeshit movies.

Eisenberg Lex is honestly visionary. When that film released, everyone was sucking Elon's dick. Iron Man in the MCU is directly based on Musk. It's an okay movie. People treat it as the worst thing to ever happen or as the second coming of christ. It's neither. It's capeshit in the most basic sense, easy and simple entertainment with basic complexities.
The one thing this movie has going for it is it's style. You might not like it but, in a landscape where Marvel slop disneyfied boxxed entertainment dominates, this movie is a fucking scream of identity and that's undeniable. Compare it's style to the best marvel movie and you'll see why it's so captivating to some people.

I've never watched BvS, just the moment when Superman and Doomsday shoot the laser beams.
It was one of the best capeshit moments ever made, have replayed it for like an hour or so.

As somebody whose parents came to America from East Germany after the wall fell his little monologue about his father having to throw flowers to tyrants gave me an indescribable feeling. Great script, most people really don't get that feeling and it makes him realistic. I also get that people hated them turning Batman into a quasi-villain but he perfectly explains his very reasonable motivations as well.

The movie has so many good elements but just doesn't quite make it. Soundtrack is godlike, most of the actors are incredible (Lois Lane is a horrible miscast and has zero chemistry with Cavill) script shines in some parts, but it just doesn't come together right to make true kino. The Doomsday shit at the end is gay. Captain America Civil War had the opposite problem of this movie, boring gay cookiecutter low stakes nonsese just meant to set up a pure kino end fight between Iron Man and Captain America and Bucky. This one had so many kino elements in the uphill and then brutally drops the ball with the last 3rd or so of the film.

For the first two thirds I was on board, but once the dipshit mindless CGI bloated action packed finale that never ends you just stop giving a shit.
The brightest point of the movie is when they fight. Once the martha scene happens I genuinely couldn't stop laughing until the credits started to roll. Holy shit, its so fucking stupid.

no that doesnt make any sense, this is the absolute worse suggestion people make that really highlights they simply do no understand that scene. Not 5 minutes earlier, Batman was ranting about how Superman's alien parents must have taught him he was special. If Superman said "save my mom" Batman would just assume he is talking about his alien mother, saying "save Martha" directly implies it is a human he wants to save, and even then Batman doesn't actually stop beating him until Lois comes and explains Martha is his mother. It is at THAT point, with a human woman caring for Superman and realizing his mother might just be a regular human like his own, that he realizes he has been projecting his own fears and failures on to Superman.
