I think I may go and see it twice, because as a huge Superman fan, I want to really understand how I feel about the movie.
After seeing it once, I think it's good, but lacked a good central theme. I definitely didn't like it as much as the original Superman movie.

the amount of random
>SUPERMAN IS COMING SOON GUYS
videos in just the recent months all while wearing this same outfit is insane, i could buy the trailer release... but he literally has "reminder to go see the film guys!"videos in just the last month or so, completely out of his normal "wait for just big reviews so my presence means something"

there's zero way that was organic, because he didn't do that for any of the other recent Superman movies

It's about the value of earnest kindness in a cynical world. About optimism, the belief that most people are good and that if good people applied themselves the world would be better.

Clark Kent is mocked when he goes to Metropolis, which starts as this dingy city where Lois Lane is writing about massacres, rapists, and corruption. They mock him for sending money back to his mother in Kansas, saying 'swell' and whatnot.

And even when the themes aren't as profound, the score and the delightful slow and romantic moments make the movie so lovely and epic. It's a wonderful celebration of everything Superman is.
Great movie.

thank god I'm not insane so can just like or dislike things using my own personal taste and sense of aesthetics instead of calculating which opinion I think "the jews" want me to have and then fanatically championing the opposite view regardless of what I actually feel

really you're just describing superman. I thought you meant themes specific to the 1978 film itself.

Man Of Steel was cancer with the "morality is a evolutionary weakness" atheism opposing the Kal-El jesus imagery, and that awfully forced shit was specific to the movie itself. by the time Batman v Superman gave us "can a god bleed" I was praying for Zack Snyder and David Goyer to both die in a submarine accident.

He's desperate for this one to do well enough to earn more sequels. This movie failing means we won't get another superman film for at least a couple more decades.

the world depicted in 1978 isn't really very cynical. I definitely remember some of the stuff you're referring too but overall its really a very gentle film until Lois falls into a crack.

>This movie failing means we won't get another superman film for at least a couple more decades.

it really does depend on long-term market research tracking. if it restores the Superman brand over time it will have done its job.

of course it will need to actually find an audience and we've seen that that is more about having some kind of dumb "CHICKEN JOCKEY" effect than quality. and I don't know to what extent people even watch movies for anything except memes at this point.

he doesn't really have his own opinion. the movie isn't a 6/10, he only gave it a low review because WB didn't want to pay him extra for a higher score.

note that Critical Drinker hasn't even reviewed the film yet, for the same reason: no money no promotion.

the actual real reason we're getting capeslop is because all these copyrights are literally ending within this decade,

you already saw original Mickey mouse design, and winny the poo and some others, they've reached the Max lengths (which was able to get extended by Congress in the 90s) but 95 years is now the max and they already said government is not extending it again.

so its been a slop train for the last few years to milk the last few cents.

number of good dc films in last 40 years: 0
number of good marvel films in last 40 years: 4 or 5 (raimi spiderman 1 & 2, blade, iron man 1, winter soldier, maybe couple other watchable ones from early mcu stuff)

they are shit on for a reason.

Supposedly this movie gets way better on second viewings, the major criticism of it was there were way too many characters, once you see it twice you see how all the plotlines fit together. I still haven't seen it.

it's more that we're so used to capeshit being formulaic that your brain rebels at one not having the exact same origin story structure as all the others.

once you get past the 30 minute twist the film totally settles into gear and it feels completely normal. the last act is quite busy and the resolution makes sure every characters gets a "50 points for Gryffindor!" style catharsis moment, but the issues are very minor and mostly just a side effect of the story having lots of moving parts.
