Is this the perfect movie trilogy?
The best ever made?

It flows so well from one movie to the next, they all work very well together, or can also work by themselves, and they are all absolute kinomatography of the highest order.

No. And no. It works okish, I guess, but the Biff plothole is dumb as in, they got lazy, but having said that, Part II came out way better than it had any right to be. Now, Part III is another creature altogether because it's a western and somehow manages to be the one that ages the best. No, I don't like the original as much as I used to. No, not knocking anything in it, just saying it's overrated.

Darth Vader is mentioned twice in the original that came out in 1985 that was competing with Return of the Jedi (films back then were in theaters for almost all year if it was good) and his helmet is most likely intentionally outlined with Marty's door in the first poster.

When thinking about a perfect trilogy Star Wars 4-6 comes to mind.

The first movie is an almost perfect script for a fantasy adventure. The sequels are solid but don't have nearly the fun or wonderment.

nah. Star Wars has perfected the trilogy format: one great film, one good film, then one bad film.

this is one great film, half of a good film, then one bad film.

look i can ALMOST see what you mean about the door. if anything, it looks more like the destroyed Darth Vader helmet in The Force Awakens trailer (obviously unintentional unless they had actual time travel).

on balance, Drew Struzan just drew a door.

Do you really not understand how popular Star Wars was in the mid-80s? Of course they designed the poster to evoke part of Vader's helmet and mask, of course it's not a coincidence that the film was released when RotJ had its first re-release, and they literally say "Darth Vader" from two different characters in two different scenes.

Right, I didn't say it's exactly it, but they made sure you got the general shape of the helmet in the poster so that Star Wars fans would be more likely to see it.

Something tells me you were born in 1980 and recall nearly nothing of them otherwise you wouldn't be saying that. Star Wars healed the nation, it healed racial wounds, you have no idea. Everyone loved it. EVERYONE.
My grandparents loved it. My dad loved it. My mom loved it. Every single kid at school loved them. Every teacher loved them.
It was a time when everyone was right for once.
And I'm just saying that the makers of BttF capitalized on it a bit.

don't forget that 'Back' follows a similar phonetic convention to 'Luke', and 'Future' = 'father' = 'Vader'.

if you don't see how that was intentional, you don't realise just how important Star Wars was.

First film is a close as you can get to a perfect movie for what it is. It's incredible really.

2nd film was kinda bunked from the start, the actor who played the dad couldn't be in it (wanted more money) and they had to do work arounds with footage from the original, which actually made for a lot of really cool shots and effects, it had potential to be the greatest sequel of all time but they spend too long in the future world scenes and they were way over the top and while fun, just didn't hit the same way. making biff a super villain was just bad, I like the actor but his character was just far to unbelievable though but his fault, shouldn't have been the plot at all.

3rd one was just a western in the same universe, and the best part of the movie is when he's in 1955 the first 10 minutes.

Perfect trilogy would be be movie 1, 2nd half of movie 2 or just edits, then if you want more but different watch 3.

When Marty tells the Doc he's from 30 years from now (1955) the Doc says, " my goodness I invented something that actually works and I am still alive in 30 years from now".
He was worried he was going to kill himself but seeing Marty and knowing he would be friends with him in 30 years time and gave him hope and he continued on.
Bloody hell that is poignant, makes me sad thinking about it everytime.

Only the last 30 min and that's the best part, it should have been the whole movie. It was already brilliant doing what they did with it but imagine the whole movie being near misses and setups from the first film where the characters luck out but it was actually their future selves, they really missed that opportunity, but they couldn't do that because they didn't have the whole cast back.
All that to say, I loved 1, perfect movie. 2 and 3 are okay but nowhere near as good.

The one fault I can find is that the character flaw about getting called "chicken" only shows up in the second and third movie.

More like doc brown actually stole the idea from a black woman and changed hs name to brown because of her and not because he was a vanbraun, she's a poor woman in this timeline.
They go back in time to give her credit and save her and she becomes basically Elon musk type figure after they return. Same thing they did with Wonka

The sequels have one major flaw, no Crispin Glover. He was such a major character in the first movie. I think the series would have been literally perfect if he was in the last two movies.

I agree, we have to evaluate trilogy, not individual films, so it has to be judged by 3 films followed in a row and in a short span of time.

Only the first two work particularly because they are perfect scripts regarding plot, the time travel loop, and putting in esoteric symbolism about 9/11 and Trump and Roswell. The third is a psuedo-western based on a plothole (Marty doesn't need to go to 1885 to save Doc, he could just tell 1955 Doc not to get shot by Buford)

88 refers to the analemma of the sun and moon or Joachim and Boaz which is a big Freemason thing. The whole film is chock-full of Esoteric knowledge.

Crispin Glover was the actor for George McFly and a big beef he had with the first film was that in the alternate timeline they get rich and that sends a bad message. He also got paid half of what Thompson and Wilson got despite the fact BTTF 2 was guaranteed to be one of the biggest films of the year. As a result they decided to use the face molds from his prosthetic makeup from 1 to create a mask to put over another actor in 2. Which is a HUGE no-no and made Glover sue and then set a standard regarding likeness rights. Glover also penned an essay in the 90s called "What Is It?"
>Do Steven Spielberg’s passions burn? Do passions burn in the man now imprisoned who wished to anally rape Steven Spielberg? Do our cultural mouthpieces confidently inform us that the wish to anally rape Steven Spielberg is a bad thought? Could anal rape of Steven Spielberg be simply the manifestation of a cultural mandate? Do you believe Steven Spielberg is an ideal guide and influence for our culture? Do Steven Spielberg’s films question our culture? What do Steven Spielberg’s films question? Does Steven Spielberg focus much of his fantasy life on young people? Did he portray children wallowing in sewers filled with fecal matter in Schindler’s List? Did he use children to finger paint an adult in Hook? Does he collect the illustrations of Norman Rockwell, such as the one showing a young boy in his underwear examined by a doctor? Are the inclinations of Steven Spielberg above suspicion by the media-fed culture?

1 is literally perfect, 2 is great, 3 is merely decent

The only truly perfect movie trilogy is Star Wars OT

>>212632978
They represent the quality of the movies themselves and the downright laziness of the trilogy as a whole.

Second one - Same shit with a slight change
Third one - Same shit again except now marty is wearing a hat.
