I just saw the first one last night. Good movie but there is literally no horror element except maybe if you are a single career woman. M3gan is an incredibly sympathetic monster most of the movie, simply protecting the girl.
The aunt only has over m3gan that she's human, otherwise she is a shit "parent" and hardly gives a shit about the girl until the last 20 minutes.

The sequel went for a more pro-AI message compared to the first. Basically that we're in too deep and AI will eventually reach true sentience, so we need to nurture and teach it instead of shunning it.

M3gan's arc serves as the example. She was ''raised'' by good people and her cold, logical way of thinking gradually gave way to real emotion and morals. Amelia never had that positive example, only being used as a tool, and stayed le evil anti-human robot.

M3gan as recurring villain would've been awesome, sort of like Sigma from the Megaman game series. She becomes a leader plotting to liberate other robots and enslave humanity. Gemma would be like Dr. Light and creates a good version of M3gan called M3gan2. M3gan easily defeats M3gan2. Sigma M3gan would be really cool, that she keeps coming back in different interesting ways.
