Parts 2, 3 and 4 are very bad. Shouldn't have made a series of films, maybe the first part lacked a little bit of a longer introduction where Neo realizes that not everything is ok with the world and everything and that's it.

If someone in your room told you this right now would you believe them? No, you wouldn't. Neo would have scoffed at him as a crazy liar AND be killed by the machines if he chose the blue pill. If he leaves with no knowledge, he gets watched for a while then left alone. You are required to trust them, make a leap of faith, and prove your willingness to find the truth at any cost, or else you can take a hike. I asked this specific question on this very forum like a year-ish ago and other anons suggested that if you flat out said exactly what it was, that the system would sense what was going on and shut things down. Reaching a bit, I didn't find that entirely satisfying but it's plausible given the premise. Basically you're right OP, I agree but I pointed it out before you.

My point is that he could choose something less wildly inflammatory to say is "The Truth". Imagine being the guy who's like "God is made up aren't I so smart?".
A much better example would be saying the sky is green. No really, Neo, the sky is completely green but you can't see it until you take this pill that will allow you to see colors correctly. Nobody would take that pill. That's why Morpheus doesn't attempt to convince Neo. He can't simply tell him the truth (the sky is green).

I have actual memories of 1999 and it was definitely a different world. I still think most of us are plugged into the Matrix and it's become even harder to even attempt to unplug. Back then, it was kind of clear that there was a technological creep that was taking over our lives. People born with the Internet in their hands really have so little hope. I like the theory that talking about the Matrix inside the Matrix always ends up sounding like schizophrenic ramblings. I'm probably in a huge minority in that I feel like The Matrix was really telling us a deep truth about reality and I've worked my whole life toward understanding that truth.

I agree with you on everything. But here I'd substitute "people who can't be skeptical."

There are people who aggressively want to believe a mainstream narrative, and nothing else. The rich keep the poor stupid. Use laws to fight your employer if they fuck you. Television is social programming. Statements like these will make certain people panic and immediately hate whoever said it. They don't even realize they're doing it. They blindly live life and don't care. I love The Matrix because the parallels are so universal.
