Nobody actually gives a shit about campy boy scout Superman. The character was a relic from a time when people thought spandex and moral lectures were peak storytelling. Snyder was the first one to actually treat the concept with any seriousness. Of course Superman would go evil. That’s the only realistic direction.
You’re telling me an alien god is going to dedicate his life to helping humans? Why? He’d realize instantly that he’s above us. That we’re insects. Snyder understood that. He didn’t make Superman “dark” for shock value, he made him accurate.
How are you faggots not realizing he was injecting serious realism into the character the way Nolan did with Batman?
Just like Nolan deconstructed the vigilante fantasy with Batman, Snyder deconstructed the god complex with Superman. But no, apparently that’s “too mean” for people who want their capeshit with pop songs and quips every five minutes.
Supergunn enjoyers are coping hard. They want comforting r*ddit fantasies with colorful suits. Snyder was giving you the reality, that if someone like Superman existed, he wouldn’t be a hero. He’d be a tyrant.
He was showing you what happens when a superior being stops pretending to be human. But that’s too much for the average MCU-slop addicted brain. Keep pretending your Saturday morning cartoon Superman is still relevant.
