The first half is way better than season one and then it gets kind of boring, mostly the james stuff. And then the last episode is almost peak Lynch.

I like season 2 more overall, but it definitely has way too many filler plotlines that either go nowhere or don't get wrapped up in a satisfying way. The whole season should be like 6 episodes shorter IMO.

Ben's civil war arc was the peak of the series, though.

I still hate the ending of the Return.
The "fight" against Bob was awful.
And then the final episode was Lynch as his most unhinged worst. I wasn't expecting a typical ending. But that episode was completely impenetrable.

Kind of in that it has an unmistakeable 90s flavor to it, but X files is more straight forward. Twin peaks is more like a surrealist art project for the X files generation. Don’t watch it expecting a neat and tidy narrative, but the show is fucking amazing if you can just roll with it and soak up the vibes.
There are tons of moments where suddenly like 50 people are bouncing basket balls in the background for no fucking reason other than it creates some visual interest for a scene that is otherwise just exposition. If you try to make sense of it you’ll hate it. If you can accept it at face value and appreciate the lynchian whimsy, then you may have fun.
