It was passably entertaining, but forgettable. And a Superman movie should not be forgettable.

People shit over re-telling origin stories, but origins are what give superheroes their humanity. It's how you know what kind of struggles and challenges they had to overcome to be the person they are, which in turn helps you to empathize with them more. So when you skip the origin story, it feels like you just stumbled across an episode of a TV series that's been on the air for a while. Without the broader context, you can't get as invested in the outcome vs. if you'd been watching the series since the beginning.

I saw the trailers, saw how goofy overcrowded and cheap it looked, and decided that was enough for me

He's the most boring superhero with the (now) most cliche of flaws and backstory. Superman is simply just a bad character. He's the archetype. It's boring. You can't do anything with him. It's like trying to turn Pong into a videogame movie.

I liked Superman in the Animated Series and Justice League cartoons as a kid. There’s so many new things to do with him, have him in space, have him fight anyone other than Lex Luthor or Zod again

Why are shills on both sides incapable of understanding that it’s possible for someone to think both Snyder and Gunn’s versions are shit?
