Although the premise has antecedents like The Fog, or Phantoms, I strongly suspect it drew inspiration from the Silent Hill games and thus stole their thunder. It's pretty wild they tried to make a Sh film series, when the format fits tv so much better.

1. It was good when it was just a sick game with the monsters. There's a solid tv show in that idea if you have the writing chops to make lots of different ways the monsters can get in and kill people without breaking the rules of the game. In a lot of ways From as a concept feels like Squidgame.

2. The counter-culture houses divide was cringe boomer television and I'm sure everyone is glad that they dropped it. Whoever cut that plotline deserves a raise because it was going nowhere good and I'd hate to think of what plot points were intended for the underage daughter ("hey your kid wants to stay in our commune, whoops looks like that mocha latter boy with a drug habit knocked her up :)"

3. The bugs are too OP so they break the slow-boiling tension and the monsters looked like ass in S3 when they showed people wearing rubber masks. Altogether there's too much magic woo stuff and bad character decision making now, it's just covering for bad writing and playing out the show for time. Same with the theme song.

4. By focusing on interpersonal drama you end up boring the audience who start to pick holes in the shows concept of things like food.

A general theme is that a person is trapped in the otherwise quaint resort town built around a large lake, but instead it's fog covered, they can't leave, and the town is filled with monsters. They're typically trying to find a missing daughter or wife or something.

I've always wanted a tv show, but From stole it's thunder. If you make a show now, people will go "that's like From!".

Entertaining but doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Also them taking an entire season just to address the radio call in a private one off mention was terrible.

I actually didn’t mind the pace of the show until that little fuck the boy in white showed up to stop Victor from cutting down the tree and explicitly refused to tell him anything because “they had to figure it out on their own” that’s retarded

I cannot fucking believe the entirety of season 3 centered around Fatima being pregnant with the most obvious demon of all time, no one doing anything to try to abort it and just feeding her rotten shit, and all just to restore one of the creatures that clearly aren’t the end all big bad to the story

It really is silly how often they use this as an excuse in a small town they can't escape and they have basically nothing BUT time.
They have so little time they could have a daily 2 hour long town meeting and still would have trouble finding out how to fill their day out.

yeah, they shouldn't have given them free electricity and respawning livestock and produce
there's like 100+ people and maybe 6 of them actually have jobs to do, but nobody needs to do physical labor or really build anything like if it was a desert island or whatever

I do wish they had more to do during the day, at the moment the day is too safe and it's only an inbetween for some contrivance during the night. Having to rely on foraging during the day, or having them desperate for fresh produce they can farm when a new car comes in, having them fortify the houses, there's so much they could do during the day.

both
the show logistically has not demonstrated how most of the people wouldn't be sitting around all day long doing nothing
There's people at the commune who plant and harvest vegetables, but that's not something you do every day, and then there's a normal working farm's amount of livestock which could be managed properly by 2/3 people
And then there's Boyd and the deputy guy who just kind of "patrol" the place
There's literally not enough things for people to do
