It used to be that the movies were affectionate commercials for the comic books and that's how people viewed them. Marvel happened and now they're the main product of the Big 2 while the source material is desecrated and cast aside for big-budget cosplay shows and movies.

You say the first post but the second post looks like you just want Gunn's DCU again except all done in exactly the ways that (You) want. If you listen to Gunn in interviews, Gunn is clearly passionate about auteur creators, directors having creative control to tell the stories they want to tell, about the importance of story foremost, and about incorporating a wide range of genres rather than a standard superhero formula like the MCU, plus he's not neglecting having Elseworlds projects on top of all of this. He's not making Clayface and Swamp Thing and The Authority etc. out of cynical commercialism or trying to copy the MCU formula, because who would choose those projects to start a cinematic universe except a madman? They're clearly all somewhat out of left field because they are passion projects being made with a lot of creative control from the writers and directors.
