If F4 also underperforms, the end of the superhero genre could be in sight. The days of billion-dollar grosser are definitely over.

BvS's weekend was the stuff of legend. EVERYONE saw it. Drop off was because the film just didn't feel family friendly enough for families to go back to which are the main demographic that go for repeat viewings.

Did you want Superman constantly going full power killing everything? He was frequently holding back to save even those attacking him like when he was holding the baby and also ensuring the goons wouldn't die in the proton river. Or when he didn't laser those dudes in half but gently took them out with his lasers. The whole movie was Superman respecting and loving all life big and small, evil or just.

> The days of billion-dollar grosser are definitely over.
Nah the next 2 Avengers will make a billion due to nostalgia for RDJ and Chris Evans. Gunn's DC universe if it lasts won't make a billion. Gunn doesn't know how to generate hype the way Feige can. Infinity War hype was insane. Gunn can't generate hype like that because he's dropping the audience in the middle of the story and he himself doesn't care about making a story arc.

Not according to Hollywood, DC, or comic writers. He no longer represents the American way. He represents illegal immigrants.

Audiences were conditioned under Snyder to hate DC characters.
Marvel was riding high into 2020, but then they fell into the same trap by releasing garbage after garbage after garbage and now they’ve conditioned audiences to dismiss that brand and those characters as well. It’s easier to lose your audience than it is to win them back. Both companies are in an uphill battle. Marvel just shit out iron heart and once again tainted their goodwill after thunderbolts. It’s unlikely DC will ever experience hype like it did coming off the Nolan trilogy, and it’s unlikely marvel will ever experience infinity war/end game type again.

"Bad reviews" did not make Batman v Superman have a horrendously bad drop after a massive opening. Audiences fucking hating the film did.
