Tristram Shandy is genuinely impossible to adapt to a different medium, the entire structure depends on it being a stream of consciousness novel. It'd have to be like 90% framing devices and narration if they even tried, it'd just be a glorified audio book.

It's not unadaptable but it's got some pretty difficult shit in it. Could go two ways with it. A prestige streaming show that gets into the themes and world building properly. Or a high concept action B movie in which teleportation is explained with a voiceover at the start and we just watch Gully beat the shit out of a series of super powered villains (radiation man, etc) with his sledgehammer

I'm just about at the end of CotC. Reading the books then listening to the audiobook reading by Roy Avers to help me soak it in. It's funny OP made this thread because I've often thought how, if executed correctly, a movie could be amazing- but realistically it's impossible. It would be an even more soulless butchery of the source material than DUNC
