Neither. It's just completely forgettable. I have never seen something that evoked so little emotion in me.

It's too focused on therapy bullshit to really be comfy, but it had some okay moments. Blond team owner is a 10/10 milf and the two main soccer players were funny when they weren't learning to be emotionally intelligent betas.

It's a weird show when you think about it though. Ted's entire personality is shown to be partially the result of massive trauma due to his dad's suicide and it seems to have caused the collapse of his marriage, but they still sort of present him as some kind of role model. I actually agree with a lot of the messages about compassion and all that shit, but even I got annoyed by it in this show. And frankly it feels kind of like it's trying to trick and subvert people who like sports into becoming therapy speak betamales.

It’s pretty good but the last season is a bit of a mess. Hannah Waddingham is the GOAT though. I wouldn’t fault anyone watching it just to see her strut around in heels for 1/3 of any given episodes run time

comedies for the past couple of decades are either this shitty comfy-core for women (this, modern family, the office, himym) or edgy southpark tier trash, like most adult cartoons
when did people lose their capability to write good comedies? are Seinfeld and Frasier too cynical for today's audiences?
honestly, I blame Friends

HIMYM isn't really comfycore, it looks like a friends ripoff but the MCs are all kind of cunts. Not in a cool way like Married with Children, but in a way that makes it incompatible with the comfy genre imo.

they are dipshits, but the show plays it down, because they all love each other so much and are such great friends teehee
same thing with Friends, they were awful people constantly, but the show never addresses it

They stop downplaying it a lot by the end of HIMYM, they were way worse than the Friends overall. Especially Ted who would switch gears from being a whiney romantic to a complete fuckboy who lied to women on a moment's notice.

The first season was good but season 2 focused on 2 annoying old women so I never watched season 3.

season 1 - comfy
season 2 - comfyslop
season 3 - slop

it really goes downhill when they spend too much of the effort on writing more stories for the players, unfortunately the "athletes" they hired arent very good at acting and the writers make up the most contrived cringey plots to push obvious agendas
the hamfisted gay acceptance and the "muh poor immigrants pls no bully my cafe" stick out, but its hard to feel empathetic with characters who are absolutely loaded from their "pro athlete" salaries whine about being accepted

Apple TV shows are just digital heroin for gen x'ers and boomers that watch NBC and need something to fall asleep to while they dream about living in a world where Kamala won. And Ted Lasso is no exception.

its really becoming obvious how deep the echo chambers at these streaming companies are
every amazon show feels like all the others
all the apple shows feel the same
all the disney shows are exactly alike
the tones, the themes, the dialogue is always the same as their counterparts
gen X and millennials can't write for shit

The issue in his mind was that despite being given an insanely good deal by Ted, he'd basically become incapable of respecting/feeling respected by people who weren't abusive to him so knowing he owed so much to Ted who would never get confrontational with him regardless of how much he acted out made him resent Ted.
What I don't get is why he was like that, his dad seemed like a bit of a dick but wasn't really abusive to him, the only one who ever really was was Jamie and he was like that to everyone.
