The look can mainly be attributed to the fact that it was shot on the film, the locations, sets and everything else about it is a testament to the talented individuals working during the golden era of television (the late 80’s, early 90’s). The switch to digital for the sake of higher fidelity and efficiency ultimately results in the cheapening of quality and all other facets of production followed suit. A lovingly crafted set or practical effect won’t look at magical on digital so what’s the point.
