Two was my favorite of the original trilogy. That would have been so lame to not have Toby. Gyllenhaal has an arrogant chad quality to him, and Toby has that innocent kind face. Would have fucking ruined it. Plus, we wouldn't have all the memes we have today.

His double chin was distracting. I always stare at it come the second and ESPECIALLY the third film. Peter was looking like such a doughboy it's funny.

I honestly never liked him as Peter. He has a dopey dimwit quality that Parker in the comics never channeled.
Always hated that they didn't pick Eric from that 70s show and it's even more insulting since they chose him for Brock later on.
Eric would've made a great dorky snappy Peter Parker.

This. If you want to see what Gyllenhaal would've been like as Peter, watch "Proof". It wouldn't have worked.

Every faggot who makes fun of tobey’s face in this scene is a giant nigger and is to blame for modern movie stars having a face expression like they’re taking a brisk walk when they’re supposed to be fighting for their life

Honestly looking like a fucking loser whose life is a living hell is a more important quality for Peter Parker than being the dorky scientist university student. If they had to pick only one character trait for Tobey to focus on that was the right choice.

Yeah I didn't like this incarnation of the character either. I grew up in the 90s so I wanted quippy, modern Peter. Spider-Man 2002 was just a love letter to Raimi's vision of the character and that's why he's so lackluster and lethargic. He has "everyman" to him in that any guy who doesn't have a lot of charisma or going on in his life can immerse themselves onto Peter but they really lost the
>Peter takes off his blinders and channels all his frustration and bitterness into mocking people he has an incredible physical and mental advantage over given the way his body now processes information and pumps blood and adrenaline through him
Peter should've been taking no prisoners with his insults. But when he puts on the mask he's no different than when it's off. Super lame. Just goes to show that Lee didn't get what made the character work to modern audiences. He developed Spider-Man like 30 years ago so of course his vision and what the world knows Peter as are vastly different. The fact that superhero movies were still pretty new allows that incarnation of Spider-Man to be heralded as a prime example of storytelling and etc when it was just timing, if anything.

raimi suit always looked like it was massively uncomfortable to wear, and now seeing the eyes, i'd imagine you couldn't see shit with the lens.

ASM2's suit must've been a dream to wear as it looks less restrictive and you can still see.

The entire train scene, start to finish, is the peak of the trilogy. I don't care how precious or on the nose the civilian scene is where they bring him into the car. It showcases how altruistic Peter is and how he's a true hero, along with the fact that the people of New York show their gratitude to him. It's great. Raimi was something else with 1+2

The third film should've sped ahead like 5 to 10 years in time, done some plot progression. The third movie feels like a film parody riffing on the first two movies, that trilogy is wayyyy too downbeat and repetitive to watch more than once.

It must be so weird as an actor in a Marvel film to see a performance on a set you weren't on, holding some prop you never used, in a costume you never wore, cobbled together out of 50 different shots and using a CGI double for half the movie.
