>I think human consciousness, is a tragic misstep in evolution. We became too self-aware, nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself, we are creatures that should not exist by natural law. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self; an accretion of sensory, experience and feeling, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everybody is nobody. Maybe the honorable thing for our species to do is deny our programming, stop reproducing, walk hand in hand into extinction, one last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal.
Does rust have a point here? Or is it just nihilistic bullshit?
He does. I've put a loaded shotgun in my mouth safety off loaded dozens of times and I can't even will my finger to move. I'm literally trapped being alive. Free will doesn't exist

The problem with todayโs world is itโs impossible to completely change your identity and your entire past and become a ghost. By far that is the most valid reason to be antinatalist, at least nowadays. What was possible for the entirety of human history up until the past century will now be impossible, forever.
>I used to want to be an astronaut, but astronauts don't even go to the moon anymore
Did he have a point?
>>212716833Have you tried getting drunk? Mostly serious question.
oh boy cant wait for a whole thread where people conflate anti-natalism with fatalism
>>212716926Yes, to the point of blacking out, still my finger won't move one iota to depress the trigger
>>212716762 (OP)It's a cool speech til the gay walk hand and hand to our death nihilist bit
>>212716940No one does that because those things are not related at all.
>>212716762 (OP)Kinda. But it's more rage than anything profound. It's just a really pessimistic existential crisis. The whole season is about him overcoming it
>>212716910Another great line that's completely true
>>212716910>Season 1A cult stemming from bayou voodoo practices has worked its way into Louisiana's leadership all while abducting and murdering children for their rituals

>>212716762 (OP)>Does rust have a point here? No. The truly honorable thing would've been to just kill himself
>>212717000You're sustaining yourself on the idea of a brain splattering suicide. Not necessarily your conscious, depressed mind, but your brain itself is. The concept is exciting, which keeps you going as it tells itself "NEXT TIME." But every next time, you do the same thing. Eventually, the adrenaline will fade and you'll be faced with enough sober understanding that your life had no happy days in the future, and then you'll finally be able to pull the trigger.

>>212716762 (OP)That show is embarrassingly bad and i look forward to the day when people finally view rust's dialogue with the same kind of ridicule that they have towards peaky blinders.

Calling you an ESL would be a blessing
>>212717104this. i guess he's not wrong on a lot of points but his mindset is not supposed to be one of a healthy mind. the conflict rages all season until the final line. S1 is the fucking GOAT, we'll never see its like again

He has a point, but the much more important point is that he realizes this is wrong by the end of the series.
>>212716762 (OP)yeah, well, last time i checked, nature didn't file a complaint, it's still his ego talking.
>>212716762 (OP)>stop saying weird shiti related to this line because my coworkers always say that to me with an annoyed tone of voice.
