It’s called a roast. They happen all the time and a lot of people can laugh at themselves. I’m sure they’re a few people with something stuck up their ass but most laughed at the jokes, groaned at the groaners and applauded because they know their job is to be a good audience.
Nothing he said was surprising to them because he had hosted the show a bunch of times before and did the exact same thing. They all hung out at the after party and laughed about it. The time he hosted before this he made a bunch of jokes about Johnny deep. He went onto one of Ricky’s show and made fun of himself about it.

Hollywood has never been 'Roasted' as good as that. And its not a fucking roast really, They knew he would say shit but I don't think it was a planned roast like Seth McFarlane.
Also, Roasting is the American attempt at Banter. Which falls short because its just bitter as fuck most the time and not even funny.
