I watched it at the insistence of an old friend and just criticized it the entire time. Looking back I don't feel bad persay but bummer that I just crapped all over this bad movie he was kind of into I think.

It was a mistake. The books are somehow better.
I was excited for the film, but then the reviews came out and apparently it was bad.

I read the books as a teen, was my favorite series. the movie was so bad, every decision the director made was the wrong one. embarrassing waste of a hundred million.

Nah, you did good, this one has next to no redeemable features. You should be allowed criticize shit when its served to you. It's your life and your time which they consume. You (or someone else) payed money and delivering this kind of mess should not be accepted by our society. I haven't heard anyone say a positive thing about the movie. The story is childish kindergarten junkfantasy (what if we play game where our lego cities crashed against eachother!?). I have no clue what the message of the movie is other than some girl being angry at her father or the patrician society and some dumb lefties/white knights help her. The characters are woke and stupid. The cgi is on india-level. The cinematography bland and boring. The music unrememberable. The whole shit smells from marketers trying to cook a franchise-meal based upon previous successes like Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Percy Jackson but they added to many ingredients, did not let it boil long enough and served it in a fast food package.

I just recently realized that this and The Mortal Instruments are not part of the same series like I always thought.
