I have an idea everyone will hate.
Make Isidro the main character. The first movie is Conviction arc (Though that may need two parts) from his perspective.
Guts is just a figure with ambiguous backstory in the context of the movie.
Don't get bogged down in flashbacks or anything- the backstory is loosely implied at most.

1997 was alright but it was censored to death, cut out stuff(yes, Wyald was important) and it was known for being under animated. It being a slideshow is one of the biggest criticisms. Obviously the anime was never going to match Miura’s art but it’s hard not to bring up when talking about the eclipse. It carried more dread in the manga. Even the movies did the eclipse better than 1997. Berserk works best in its intended format
