its actually too based for general audience, because whereas you could argue that
>LotR / Star Wars
achieve stuff through the power of friendship, Dune is about one incredibly gifted, superior, based individual slowly bending the whole world to his divine will, with his domain expanding more and more. The path of Paul Atreides isnt something that modern critics would praise, but feel threatened by.
The Zendaya's character sort of represents the modern audience and ideology regarding this, where she gives that sad/worried look of disapproval all the time at the path he leads and wishes to stop it.

This is very true. Villeneuve has admitted as much, stating in interviews how the subject matter and themes of Dune make him deeply uncomfortable. It should come as not surprise to see how much he neuters his adaptation.

I donโ€™t want them to make Dune another big IP. Thereโ€™s already multiple video games and a tv show. It all feels homogenized borrowing the same aesthetic with the sanitized movies as the main pillar. What I want is more adaptations from completely different groups and their own original takes on the setting that arenโ€™t beholden to franchise whoring so they can actually show off the scary stuff

Very overrated. The first one is a bad movie since it doesn't even have an ending. Events are in full motion, and then the story just fucking stops. Fuck you Villenfool. I don't care to hear about the excuses. When the story just stops, that's a bad movie. It's not about being faithful to the story, as they're making many changes to the story. Can't stand this fart huffin bullshit. Both movies are ugly as dogshit.

I was memeing. There's no fucking way that scene is going in.
>"I presume you know how dangerous that was," Paul said. He took his time reading the reactions on her face and body: the flush of her exertions coloring her skin, the wet fullness of her lips. There was a disquieting femaleness about her that he had never considered in his sister. He found it odd that he could look at a person who was this close to him and no longer recognize her in the identity framework which had seemed so fixed and familiar.
>Stilgar continued to stare at Alia. "Sire, are you blind?" Paul turned back to his sister, a feeling of unease beginning to fill him. Of all his aides, only Stilgar dared speak to him in that tone, but even Stilgar measured the occasion by its need. "This one must have a mate!" Stilgar blurted. "There'll be trouble if she's not wed, and that soon." Alia whirled away, her face suddenly hot. How did he touch me? she wondered.
>Paul weighed Stilgar's meaning, reviewed what they had seen here and his own undeniable male reaction to his own sister. Yes -- there'd been a ruttish air about Alia, something wildly wanton. What had made her enter the practice floor in the nude?

I turned the first movie off half way through. Didn't hate it, but I realised it really wasn't the sort of movie I would want to watch twice and that there was no way I would retain enough information over several years to make the sequels worthwhile. I just decided to forget about it until all the movies were out and I could marathon them.

1. Paul was never a sociopath, his entire arc is fundamentally that of a tragic character bound by fate and by human emotional weakness
2. The islamic overtones are pretty fucking strong lmao, you literally see Chalamet mount a rock, raise a dagger in front of a crowd of devout followers whilst screaming "LONG LIVE THE FIGHTERS" in a pseudo-arabic sounding language. The film literally ends with him leading these jubilant, arab looking warriors into a literal space jihad.
