Pure 2000s kino. It's easily Craig's best Bond movie. Casino Royale is overrated simply for the novelty of being the first "gritty and realistic" Bond movie. It's actually not that great.

It's 2008: The Movie. It reminds you of those pre-smartphones where the keyboard was hidden inside the phone, Black Eyed Peas songs, GTA IV on the PS3, Gatorade, Call of Duty games, MySpace/Facebook and early days Youtube. I love it solely for the memories.

>brings back the Bond girl dichotomy of good Bond girl and bad Bond girl
>brings back Bond girl pun names
>short and sweet runtime
>brings back Bond tropes without compromising the realistic spy thriller tone of the Craig era
>Villain is a modern 2000's Goldfinger
>Gemma Arterton as a Bond girl
>Great late 2000's theme song by Jack White and Alicia Keys
>Pure action and thrills, no boring scenes
I always loved it and it was the movie where Daniel Craig finally won me over. Only for him to turn around and make Skyfall.

Yeah this, it's unironically the best of the Craig Bond films, managing to evoke the feel of classic Bond films while also being relatively grounded. It's baffling that they nailed it with this film and then never again.

and completely on accident too since the film's production was a nightmare and no one knew what the fuck they were doing. Daniel Craig wrote most of the script on the fly himself. If Bond 26 is directed by Denis Villeneuve, I expect it to be more like Quantum of Solace in tone. From what I infer with Amazon's statements thus far, they want to keep the series "prestige" and "serious" like how Craig did it in his early days but also be more "classical".

As for the few issues I have with Quantum is the fact they put the gunbarrel at the end and didn't use Shirley Bassey's song for the end credits.

It's actually laughably simple and yet genius. Dominic Greene's plan in Quantum of Solace is to gain control over Bolivia’s water supply. He helps install a dictator and in return gets the rights to most of the country’s water, forcing Bolivia to buy it back at steep prices. It's corporate blackmail masked as environmental activism.
