Watching people sour on Gunn over the past few years has been interesting. You could compare it to people souring on Snyder over Rebel Moon, but I think the broader issue is that Gunn writes his own movies, and people are realizing how empty even his good films are. How he creates this illusion of emotional authenticity, but there's nothing inside. It's all overt manipulation, and the manipulation fell flat on its face with Superman because the music is shit, the script is shit, the plot is boring, and the action is so, so weak.

Snyder's Superman is boring. Static, unflinching, inhuman. Most emotion we get is him telling Pa Kent "You're not my daddy!" and being mopey.
It's a film about the illusion of choice, whereas Gunn creates an actual choice for Superman to make.
There is no competition, really, and that's why Snyder was let go and Gunn was brought in.
That's why the new Superman is critically loved more than MoS.
Gunn's film is just the better adaptation of the character.
