Okay, I'm watching through Saw for the first time.
Why do John Saw and Amanda seem to completly forget the the reason they're even torturing people in the 3rd movie? Saw revealing that he killed the guy's child and then torturing both the parents seemed completely against what he was trying to do.

John was only using Amanda because she was useful, he always knew her involvement with Cecil and causing Jill's miscarriage
The daughter is still alive, she's rescued at the start of 5 before it's assumed the dad would shoot her in a blind rage

No that's fine, but my point is that Saw goes on about how he's trying to give people a second chance and testing the human spirit etc. but he just seems to really want to torture this dude who's life he personally ruined.
