Also, every bad guy of the show so far has been a white guy (rapist, racist taxi driver serial killer), and every black guy has been a complete saint. there is also a strong woman cop who doesn't need no man, but i am not completely against her so far. i hope they don't over do it with her and her woman power and make her a bit more likable (give her some flaws or vulnerabilities)

They are mostly shown as being NPCs. They are coming together to look out for each other on account of there being a serial on the loose. Dexter only goes after people who hunt innocents so obvious the victims will be show as... innocent. Shocking I know.

Not me, but it is kind of weird how everybody and their brother wants to do a documentary on Ed Gein, John Wayne Gacy, or Ted Bundy. I even saw a video on Youtube for the 2nd most prolific serial killer in the United States. But no one ever does a documentary about Sam Little. I'm sure there's one or two out there, but he's often ignored even though he's the most prolific.

I don't think the detective and other NYPD people are supposed to be likeable.
Rather, they are a secondary group of antagonists who Dexter will manipulate, pitting them and the serial killer cult members against each other.
If she is given flaws, they will be major ones, where Dex learns that she secretly fits the code or comes close to it, so that the audience is fine with something bad happening to her
