The downfall of Arcane needs to be studied.

It went from the hottest animated commodity in the world to everyone being ashamed to be associated with it 2 minutes after the second season dropped.

The Netflix model is terrible for episodic writing.

It used to be that, if audiences weren't liking a character or subplot, the writers could course-correct in time. Not anymore.

Not much to study, the character arcs and interactions in s2 were just several levels lower than s1, better question is how the same writers managed to do s1 as well as they did instead of generic slop like s2.

I'll forever consider S1 a masterpiece and will never touch S2 again. The older I get the easier it is to just stop trying to justify what I like because at the end of the day my own enjoyment is all that matters. S2 was garbage so I won't acknowledge it at all, that's it.

Usually shows wrote whole seasons at a time though, unless it was a total production line soap opera. Writing, and shooting and airing one episode at a time has always been a very rare practice. South Park did it but they could only really get away with it because of the ultra cheap animation style and 2 guys doing almost all the voices.

If anything netflix pays too much attention to statistics and feedback which leads to them cancelling or making big changes to good shows.
