I don't get it. They want the brand recognition of the 007 franchise, but they don't want to use James Bond. But at the same time, they KNOW making 007 anyone but a manly, good looking white guy is just gonna piss people off. But that's literally all they wanna do.


Is it REALLY so hard for them to just...make a new character in the same universe with a different code name that has all the Bond-isms without literally being James Bond?

I still doubt it'd sell well, but that's their only compromise. If the movie is good, it could at least do okay via word of mouth and they could grow it from there.

At some point, you have to accept that everything has been tried with Bond. It's actually surprising that the saga has survived that long with that many actors.
Now, you have to let it die. Amazon want to do a big show with it? Let them ruin it. Villeneuve is not a bad director, but he overdoes it with exposition scenes and pointless dialogues. He does not work with good writers.
