Turns out the school apologised. Bit of a nothingburger really. It's easy to see how the tacky dress might be misconstrued, but it's also the school's fault for organising an equally tacky and performative celebration of "Cultural Diversity" and not foreseeing this might be an issue.

The school deeply apologised so it's a bit of a nothingburger. The school was clearly in the wrong in this incident however because they stated that their attire *must* reflect their heritage on that day. If they didn't foresee that British pupils would come in British-related clothing then that was sheer retardation.

The "school" didn't do shit. The principal would have been the one that made that decision because she (I bet it's a woman) would have had an agenda to push on behalf of the Department for Education, probably had special guests arriving at the school she wanted to impress with how "inclusive" *her* school was and saw the union jack as a mockery of her grand vision. I bet most of the other staff saw nothing wrong with it some would have emphatically supported her behind the principal's back. When she realised how badly she fucked up by forgetting what she *actually* stated rather than her deceptive agenda, she decided there was no way to double down without sounding like a complete retard and was forced to do the most embarrassing thing she could possibly bring herself to do, pretend to be sorry to a kid she'd wronged. Fuck I hate principals and the Department for Education.
