It was a product of its time, all of its "offensive" episodes now feel tame in the social media age, so they hardly have any appeal once the shock value is gone. Why would I sit through commercials to watch Cartman call Kyle a Jew when I can find dozens of similar jokes on /pol/ for free? I think the creators realized this, so now all the show can do is tell gay serialized storylines that assume the viewer has an unreasonable investment in the lives of these characters. They ought to end the show, but there's no way Comedy Central will let their cash cow go
