do you agree that The Last Crusade is superior?

It's more fun, and that's most important with an adventure film

Temple is the best since it actually had Indy do his most noble act and took the series in a direction way more more different

>Raiders has decent action but Indy doesn't really save they day since the ghosts kill the Nazis and he just hides the ark
>Crusade was just a repeat of Raiders. Connery was worse than short round.

These movies are insanely well shot. Adventure movies gave up after Indy.

What does Marion eat in Raiders in the tent with Belloq? Its the white thing she eats after the bread. It kinda looks like a hard boiled egg. Is it some type of moshe bun or whatever?

If you think Crystal Skull is better than Temple then you need to get your T levels checked.

Spielberg used to care. He put max effort into Raiders which was his comeback movie.

Raiders is a better standalone movie but Last Crusade is the best in the series

No, it's blatant fan-pandering that overly indulges in the familiar iconography from the first movie. Not only is Raiders of the Lost Ark better but Temple of Doom and the Great Circle video game are also better.

>Not The Great Circle which opens with the opening scene of Raiders for no other reason but fan pandering
to answer OP, Raiders is the better film but Last Crusade is on pretty even playing ground for me and in some regards is more fun. Raiders has more tense and atmospheric action scenes whereas many of Last Crusade are punctuated with gags or reactions between Indy and Henry Sr. The opening scene with River Phoenix is a lot of fun. I also find Last Crusade to be a comfier film. Always find myself watching it around Christmas especially.

I like both but Raiders really has an epic feel. I mean the reveal of where the Ark is and the ceremony to unleash its power can't be topped.

I will say that Last Crusade's final sequence where Indiana, his dad, Sallah, and Marcus ride off into the sunset is THE best ending sequence ever. So much hope and optimism.

Oh and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles with Sean Patrick Flannery is criminally overlooked.

And 1941 didn't bomb. I couldn't believe it. It actually did really well. Despite Spielberg saying otherwise to put it mildly. It just wasn't a literal world altering blockbuster success. I don't think I really had any idea Close Encounters did that well. As I vaguely recall 1941 made back like 5x it's very expensive budget but Close Encounters made back at least 20x or something ridiculous. Then I assume Jaws did like twice that. I didnt even look.

Spielberg held all of his test screenings right down the street from my house but he stopped after he was displeased with the moderate success of 1941. Except apparently that's not true. Apparently he kept holding them there for movies he produced. I don't know but I think maybe he did it for Used Cars at least. Same city Dallas.

Connery probably broke his back carrying Crusade. Until he shows up, the movie is pretty much Diet Raiders plus a pilot for their Young Indy spin-off.

it's a fun way to have a tutorial mission, there's barely any pandering elsewhere in the game
