Will we ever get an Oscar-bait Joker/Penguin-tier origin story? I know absolutely nothing about where his hatred for Superman comes from.

He explains it in a very lengthy monologue in the film.

He, like every other character in this shit movie, verbalizes his motivations so the audience knows. That he's jealous of Superman because The People love Supe more than Lex

I'd like to see him cope by roiding in the sequel.

the actor was fine. All actors in the movie were fine, its not their fault.

Probably bullied for being a hairlet at the tender age of 12. Alopecia sucks, poor kid.

Lex Luthor isn't an Oscar-bait character in the source material. He's campy fun and his motivations aren't that deep.

Why has Lex never been cast well in live action? Even in the 1978 movie which is the only live action Superman movie I even enjoy he's cast as some goofy idiot. When are we gonna get an intimidating, cool Lex like the one from the Justice League cartoon?

The worst part is that there was zero need to come up with a weak motivation for why Luthor is chasing Superman. Shouldnt Superman be motivated enough to stop him as is? Luthor is literally starting wars, kidnapping and torturing people in pocket universe dungeons which are dangerous for the whole planet, and has his own evil army.
so dumb

Because you're looking for a nuanced Lex. The closest was Zack Snyder's take on him but people didn't like him neurotic to explain his cartoony obsession in taking down Superman.

Maybe incorporate it into a Legion of Doom movie in flashbacks while he assembles his team.

All those are secondary reasons in him trying to take down Superman. The Gunn film implies it's only because he's an alien and Lex hates aliens being put into the spotlight which is only hald correct. Snyder's rendition was closer to a more concrete motivation.

As someone who’s a complete outsider, they really need to get away from every fucking Superman movie being the Lex Luthor show. “God vs Scheming Rich Guy” is so fucking lame on paper, especially when they’ve been doing it over-and-over again for the last almost 50 years.

I guess it's the same sentiment with Batman vs Joker aka scheming rich guy vs scheming crazy guy.

I guess, but Batman at least mixes it up with an occasional Bane, or Scarecrow, or Mr Freeze, or Poison Ivy, or Riddler, or Two-Face, or Ra’s Al Ghul, or Penguin, or you get the idea. I know all of those guys despite never having cracked open a Batman comic.

Meanwhile, with Superman, I barely know anything about his villains.

It's harder to write for Superman without going intergalactic. But yes, you'd be right in saying that Batman has a more popular rogues gallery. He in fact has the most popular one. Most people don't even know Wonder Woman's or Flash's.
