Weird how his best movies are Rocky 1, Rocky 6, First Blood and Rambo 4

Watched the second one for the first time since I was a kid, somehow never watched it all these years properly. I now understand why that shit got all the Razzies. It's not even the genre switch that is the problem, the film is nothing but poorly filmed scenes in a jungle that lead up to an extremely brief third act with did have some decent action and overall visuals but was all too little too late.

What do you think Stallone would say if you asked Stallone what Stallone's masterpiece is?
I bet he'd say rocky
but that is just another example how this guy made a fucking clown out of himself despite having multiple opportunities to change the story
He really is just the soulless Arnold Schwarzenegger.

If the peak was everything First Blood would cement Stallone clears Arnold. But Arnold's got the better wider filmography, Stallone's got Rambo and Rocky and lesser movies.

Rambo 4 was cowritten and directed by him, and that's the second best in the series.

I love the morally ambiguous, small-town feel of First Blood where this violent killer is clashing with a bunch of hicks and slackjaws. That moral ambiguity only comes back for 4, even though the setting's not as fun for me

It feels like the dialogue is all Stallone sometimes, like it was written by him or maybe just off the cuff. Rambo to Rocky to any character he plays.

Both movies he's surrounded by a great cast so the dialogue sounds natural
