That moment was genuinely unnerving, especially after all the buildup. Mancini and co. were smart to recognize that they could only play Chucky for full horror one time, though the later sequels leaned too much into the comedy. 2 is the best because it has a perfect horror/comedy balance.

I think Bride has a better balance of horror/comedy. 2 is still mostly horror. 3 is boring. Seed is full blown gay camp Mancini. Curse is ok. Cult is fun and has a lot of interesting ideas. The Chucky show ruined it. Now would be the perfect time to move away from the overtly gay camp and make Chucky scary and dangerous again.
