Actually, he's a pretty good fit. The Judge Dredd comics are a British satire on American culture. They are more campy and comedic than dark and serious. Both the 2012 and Stallone films misunderstood them in different ways. The 2012 one took itself way too seriously and the Stallone one treated the satire as sincere and unironic.
