They aren't invincible, there's no big boss dragon, and for a while it seems like humanity is going to win the fight kind of like the opening of Pacific Rim. But the dragons just keep coming. One by one we lose more aircraft than we can build, one more ship we can't fleet, one more life we can't replace. Watching nations slowly burn and governments collapse dramatically or simply go silent, desperate nuclear strikes, and hopeless final stands.
It's a recipe for something amazing but will probably never happen. We'll get low effort slop with a brown cast of people who can barely act and it'll win awards for diversity.
