Jurassic Park III turned 24 years old today.
Say something nice about it!
>>212860207It's the best Jurassic Park sequel and has the best dinosaur designs out of all of them.
>Is this how you make dinosaurs?
>No. This is how you play God.
The last kino scene the Jurassic franchise produced.
I saw this in theaters early in the morning on a vacation and later that night I watched Rush Hour 2. One of few times in my life where I watched two different movies at the cinema in the same day

What went wrong?
>>212860182 (OP)JP > JPIII > JW > rest
!!!!!!FACT!!!!!!!
I feel like Jurassic Park 3 is so beloved because they played it way more on cable networks like TNT or AMC. The Lost World would get played sometimes but not as often, I think the runtime damaged it's potential for success on cable, thus JP3 is the more exposed and well liked
>>212860631JP2 has a bloated script with characters that pop in and out of the storyline, while everyone takes turns holding the retard ball.
JP3 is a tight story with a fun premise.
>>212860182 (OP)Here is what I remember from this movie
>William H Macy is a fake rich man looking for his son>Alan goes with him for some reason>The woman shouting Eric>The guy trying to stop the plane>The plane crashing>The T Rex and whatever that other one was called fighting>I think this is the one with the Pterodactyl cage>They eventually find the kidAnd thats about it. Oh, I remember it being shit.
>>212860182 (OP)Still way better than JP2.
Also this Jurassic World shit disgusts me. JP was never supposed to be a franchise where a movie is shit out every year like capeshit slop.

>>212860182 (OP)Thank you for giving us one of the most iconic moments in the franchise
>>212860182 (OP)It's comfy and has a nice breezy pace. Spino is an underrated antagonist and the pterodactyls were kino.

>>212860631This is true in considering that JPIII has the shortest runtime out of all of them. It's a perfect cable movie.
I can only recall seeing TLW on TV maybe like 3 times in my life? And they were all sort of an event because they included the deleted scenes with Tembo and Ludlow.
>>212860182 (OP)SAY SOMETHING ABOUT WHAT?!
Reminder that Alan Grant himself thinks JPIII is underrated.
This movie is peak comfy for many reasons.
The good:
>Only JP movie without any human villains. They're simply stuck on the island and need to get off
>Characters are memorable for better or worse, some of them are annoying like Tea Leoni but somehow it doesn't feel truly grating here
>Spino is a memorable villain, redditors who were upset he killed the younger Rex can fuck off
>As a kid I liked that it was a family trapped together on the island and I'd always imagine how me and my family would survive there
>Pteranodon aviary scene is extremely well done
>Spino attacking the boat is great and is the last action set piece in the franchise that has a sense of tangibility to it
>I still prefer the raptor design of the previous two movies but the development to their intelligence in this one is pretty cool
>Grant and Billy have a nice arc
The bad
>Grant and Ellie breaking up sucks
>Some of the CGI is spotty
>ALAN is retarded but funny
>>212860948*ROOOOAAAAAAR!!!!!*
>>212860182 (OP)It was the first dvd we got
>>212860182 (OP)Whoever came up with the logo is a genius. Silver and red is a kino, memorable color combination
>>212860880i had no idea those were deleted scenes for the longest time, my copy on VHS had them and they were always included on TV
>>212860182 (OP)I liked it more than any other Jurassic Park/World films. One of the most overrsted franvhises.
>Billy and Grant arc
>Kirby family arc
The second actually is what makes the film so good because the love and reconcilliation elevates it past the backdrop of dino threats. It's closer in that way to JPI which had Grant and Ellie as the surrogate parents for Lexi and Timmy in the midst of danger. 2 failed because the bald guy was the only paternal figure around but couldn't be as emotional symbol to the audience because he had men as his charged not kids. It's what the new offshoot is trying to recapture but the family perspective is not there.
>>212861406>the bald guy was the only paternal figure aroundIt's funny because Goldsteinbergowitz literally had a daughter assigned to him but there was ZERO reason for the audience to get invested in their relationship, which consists solely of the girl whining "DAD!"
>>212860984>>Grant and Ellie breaking up sucksin the book grant's wife died and ellie was already engaged before they went to nublar. No idea why koepp/spielberg decided to play a flirty romance angle in the movie tho

>>212860182 (OP)>Say something nice about it!JPIII is professionally made it can handle itself. The Spino was really well designed. They made something even scarier looking than the T-Rex, pretty nightmarish really. Although a lot of other things about the movie were silly or didn't make sense.
>>212861547Dominion was legitimately a 1/10 for me.
>>212861547rebirth is jp3 but with the d-rex instead of the spino as the main bad. Also the raptors get fucked up so it curbstomps raptor fags in the fandom
>>212860182 (OP)Is this the one with Peter Stormare?
>>212861596d-rex is only in the movie for 2 scenes however
>>212861573What didn't make sense?

I like the aviary action set piece. That's about it.
>>212861900It's not very good. The family shit is really gay.
>>212860737>JP was never supposed to be a franchise where a movie is shit out every year like capeshit slop.Blame people watching them. They turn mean profit for Universal.
>>212863140webms you can hear
>>212860182 (OP)Most of the dino stuff is good, and I appreciate that it doesn't try too hard to be a big blockbuster. Feels more like a B film with its short and sweet runtime.
>>212860182 (OP)The aviary scene was pretty intense.
III is a flawed movie, but it does the most with the Site B concept. Lost World has Roland Tembo kino, but does nothing with the idea of Site B itself other than "there is another island".
>>212860182 (OP)i remember renting this dvd from blockbuster with my dad
>>212860689you forgot
>raptor plane jumpscare>the phone ringing>and the little kid answeing the phonebut thats basically the plot
>>212861725What happened to Cooper doesn't have any satisfying explanation. The fact that the Spino just seemed to appear on the island years after Ingen abandoned it. There are others but I cba to think of them.
>>212865014Spino didn't 'appear'. Site B was Ingen's testing ground and had a bunch of dinosaurs they didn't publicly announced during their lawsuit period. Spino wasn't even the only example, ankylosaur wasn't on Ingen's list either.
>>212863140I'm always shocked at how bad that Spino animatronic is.
>>212865014The mercs didn't understand how dangerous the island was, they were being paid by the day, and they had been blasting mock dinos all weekend, so they thought they'd take a walk around and see if they could shoot anything for trophies.
>>212865014It's kinda implied that Spinosaurs was a secret experiment since Grant says it's not on InGen's list. How and when are never explained, but you don't need an exposition dump about it when the thing is trying to eat you alive.
I like to think it was made as a way of population control after The Lost World to keep the ecosystem stable.
>>212865091It's not bad at all.
>>212860182 (OP)It's fine. Not as good as TLW and, of course, nowhere near as good as the orignal. But still better than any of the Worlds.
I don't get why this movie decided that divorce and failed relationships would be it's main theme.
>>212865144It's terrible.
The scene where it's destroying the plane is flat out the worst looking scene in the trilogy.

>>212865297It literally moves the same as any shot of the animatronic T. rex from the first film.
Very likely that you're a rexfag that has to look for any excuse to hate the Spinosaurus like a contrarian.
>>212865452Cope retard. That looks significantly worse than anything from the first film. It may be due to lighting or direction and not merely due to the animatronic. But it looks terrible.

>>212866106No, different guy.
Fun fact, though, Billy from JP3 was supposed to be Chris Pratt's character in World at one point.

>>212860182 (OP)what a lazy poster

>>212860182 (OP)The pacing, or editing, or something felt like I was fast-forwarding through a movie as I rewatched it. It's pretty good, but these films always feel so childish when the main characters all survive.

Better than the Lost World. That movie fucking sucks. How could spielberg have a dinosaur loose in a major city seem boring? JP 3 is straight to the point and I love it. Ellie having kids with another guy is sad tho.
