It’s a dead medium. Some bro with a beard eats a lot of food and gets more views than a show its dozens of employees and expensive production.

Also the hysterical anti-Drumpf stuff is played out. We know he’s a retard that doesn’t mean we have to hear about it 24/7 especially from some mainstream vax scene smarmy mouthpiece

Most of it is probably overhead costs and being produced in NYC isn't cheap either.

There is literally no way Colbert takes less than $50 million per year, all cable talking heads are multimillionaires just by their salary alone, and Colbert has 17 members writing team so there's most of that sum.

Colbert's salary alone is $15M. I'd assume producers and writers also have $million+ salaries. So at least half the budget is overpaid people.

Add to that the studio, equipment, plus all the people working it. I'm pretty sure they also comp a bunch of shit for their guests.

Question is if that is monthly or annual. Rachel Maddow takes a million per month and she is basically a nobody.

$100 million seems low for a 5 episode a week show.

That's a full year. 170 episodes per year. Nearly 600K per episode. 200 workers per episode including writers, camera men, actors, makeup people, costume people etc. That's about 3K per person every episode, but obviously the pay isn't spread equally. Colbert and the network would take the biggest cut. Colbert alone makes 15 million a year.

Shit adds up. For comparison it would cost 3 million dollars just to employ 200 people and pay them minimum wage for a full year. That's just the absolute bottom, but these Colbert people are well paid and would work anywhere else if they were not paid enough.

Not Trump. Late night television is dead. Nobody watches it outside sound bites posted on line. How many viewers does Fallon get. A million? Youn got mediocre youtubers with higher viewers.

It's a studio with a live audience in NYC. This isn't Joe Rogan in his shed in Texas.

>host makes 15 million dollars

>renting a massive studio in New York
It adds up. Meanwhile podcasters are reaching bigger, younger audiences from their spare bedrooms with a laptop, a couple of microphones, and zero employees. The late night business model just doesn’t work anymore.

Networks were getting money under the table for leftist political shit, but the tap has gone dry. Expect more cuts like this.

That's yearly. That's $1.25 million a month. Equivalent of $7,812.00 an hour. Pretty good deal for only having to shit Republicans and hill billies for an hour

I'm on Colbert's side, but truth be told, he DID kinda alienate half his (potential) audience. That's why Conan was smart and did everything he could hide his politics. He was so good at it, in fact, that for years I suspected that he hid his politics because he's actually conservative.

Hes probably a far leftist who identifies with the shows political bias. I think CBS will replace the show with something aimed at a young audience. Like maybe a group of tiktok girls interviewing celebrities in LA.
