i don't really think anyone has to "win" this interaction. harland was doing the same goofy shit he does on all of his podcasts, and either the guests fall in line and it's fun, or they don't and it's kind of awkward.

sam i think clearly respects and admires harland but clearly wasn't familiar with the podcast format at all before agreeing to do it. and when it was all goofy and not just him being interviewed about his projects by a comic he looks up to, he thought he'd just go wild because he can't really do "goofy" very well unless he's just over the top.

harland didn't seem that uncomfortable, he just went with it knowing it would make for a chaotic episode. they probably both left on good terms.
