Just saw the weirdest thing today. I was hoofing my bike uphill after a long tiring trip And I passed some kind of small dead animal on the side of the road. Realized it was more than one so I went back and looked. There were two whole moles and most or all of a small bird all laying in a little heap. So, assuming it wasn't an interrupted tryst ending in a murder/suicide, as near as I can figure some large bird got harrassed by another until it horked up it's meal and got chased off.

I used to watch a wildlife rehabber youtube, and he would regularly get injured raptors left at his rehab. Was surprising to see that they're always crawling with mites. Fur bearing mammals are always covered with fleas, and they literally get them as babies then have them their whole life because they jump from the mom to the baby.

I also remember reading a while ago that one of the reasons why parasites in Africa are so much more numerous and horrifying than on any other continent is because since humans evolved in Africa there are a ton more things there that evolved along with us specifically to be parasites to humans.

That's a very interesting notion, never thought about that. I think warm climates in general are just hellish. South America for example has some pretty awful things

the bird could easily reach all those spots itself if those were ticks latched onto it. I think the burr theory adds up >>212879525

Found a single fresh turkey feather in yard once. On that one feather there were like 12-17 bird lice.
