The Engineer was able to download data, and that presumably includes the tech that could translate the message, and all that it took was unscrambling the message so it could be translated after.
I wish we could've seen Lex's reaction to the message being translated. It basically justifies his suspicion of him, it's such a win for him yet we don't see how he reacted to it.

yeah, it is one of the dumb things in the movie. What does it add to the story to have his real parents telling him to be a conquerer? Nothing. The reason I think most people think it is doctored, is because we have seen superman, over and over and over, movies, cartoon movies, series, cartoon series, etc. I have yet to see his parents be evil people in anything. And I want to point out, this movie skipped origins because everyone knows the basics, “what we all know”. The movie assumes you know superman can fly, he’s kryptonian, he loved Lois, his weakness, his identity, Lex is bad, everything. So when we the audience have acknowledged that, his parents being shit, is counter to the established “what we all know”, so it feels like an obvious fake-out. It is a mistake in multiple ways, because again, nothing is gained, and it’d be better for Gunn, and everyone, if he didn’t take offense to it, but learned from it instead.
